Baptism / Christenings
Here at Brown Clee it is always lovely to welcome a new soul into our community.
If you are considering baptism whether for yourself or your child do get in touch with us. Our churches are soaked in history and for countless generations children and families have been welcomed into faith. Please speak to us so that we can help you take this next step in faith.
Baptism is the start of a great journey of faith, when promises are made and God shares his love and blessing for us. Baptisms for babies and children are similar except that as an adult you will make promises for yourself. When a baby or child is baptised, parents and godparents make those promises on their behalf.
Being baptised is about becoming part of a worshipping community.
Parents and godparents promise to pray for the child, and to help them worship.
Whilst baptisms or christenings usually take place in our services, they can also take place outside service times. We encourage all who present for christening to come to our church and understand a bit about who we are and how we can support you and your loved one on their own faith journey.
It is such a joy to see children in our churches, and we have special services and support packs so that they feel welcomed and part of the all-embracing love of Christ.
Weddings

Your wedding day will be one of the most important days in your life and we will be there to help you celebrate with a service here at Brown Clee Benefice.
If you live in the benefice or have a connection with one of the seven parishes then you can get married here. We know you will have lots to plan, so do get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can talk through the options with you.

Funerals and Life Celebrations
If someone you know and love has died, we can lead a funeral or a life celebration in one of our churches, in a churchyard, by a graveside, or at a crematorium. We will be there to support you every step of the way, and to give you hope:
“Hope is not just for the person who has died, it’s for the people who remain behind. It gives us something to hold on to. We are surrounded by creation with signs of things that die and come back to life, and that’s a wonderful metaphor of hope.”
This Christian act of comfort is one of the most precious gifts to bestow – Please get in touch with us, or through your funeral directors, and we will guide you through this difficult time. We will listen to the story of the person you knew, discuss your wishes and go through all of the details of the service you want.
